The reason the World Series is called the World Series is that it originally was sponsored by The New York World. This has not been proven.

Where are they starting? I agree with Michele, why is it the world series if it is just played here in the states. Is it because all the players are from around the world and hardly from the states. So to be POLITICALly correct we call it that.
