cubes of extra firm tofu - all three of mine LOVED this and it's very nutritious

blueberries
peas
well cooked carrots
slices of apple
chunks of baked potato
sweet potato
avocado
cut up spaghetti
bagels
plain unsalted rice cakes

shredded cheese would be OK at 9 months
same with little pieces of grilled cheese sandwiches

Both my kids teethed on garlic bread, that was their favourite finger food. They loved part boiled carrots as well cut in to strips. Nothing exciting really but foods that would last a long time so they could still be playing and having a munch at the same time. Birds Eye do those little fish fingers now that are small enough for them to pick up and eat without you having to cut up and they don't seem to get squashed up in their little fingers.

Hey, any food is finger food for an 8 month old! Watch out for foods that can break into small bits, could be dangerous. Also keep it simple to reduce the risk of food allergies and intolerances. There are plenty of ideas around thru nutritution services, books, mags and libraries.
Good luck!

Cheese, Breadsticks, Fruit Pieces (such as grapes/apple/strawberries), Toast!

My niece loved all kinds of finger foods she would even eat McDonalds Nuggets & Fish Fingers, Potato Smiles & Chips at 9 months!

Good Luck XxX

chunks of banana, rusks, soggy toast. Cow and Gate do biscuits and bread sticks for 8+ months, my son loves the biscuits.

I also do scrambled egg, but make it so the bits are big enough for my son to pick up with his fingers. My baby is 8 and a half months old.

I am going to try him on cheese on toast for lunch today.

Can you buy chickpeas (channa) in a can? Or dried ones you can cook? You take the skin off and squash it slightly so it is not so round (choking) - it is a good source of protein -my children liked it.
raw pumpkin (good when teething)
squares of cheese.
rice - my daughter used to like to pick it up grain by grain!
squares of toast with peanut butter/mashed banana/cream cheese.
cubes of banana
I used cubes of anything really! Just make sure they are not too big, and don't leave her unsupervised in case of choking.
It is a great way of getting her interested in feeding herself and getting used to different textures - good for you!
Too many people stick to bottled baby food and then wonder why their child won't eat normal family food.

i started my daughter on farley's rusks then moved on to other things. heinz use to do some baby biscotti which were great! they were like breadsticks but just turned to mush in their mouths so no choking hazard. chunks of cheese are good too as are carrot sticks. Oh and wotsits! they're nice and soft but use an old bib, the orange is a sod to get out!

my nephew is 9 months old now and he had a wafer biscuit yesterday that he made short work of, it was a flat one so really easy for him to fit in his mouth!

We started our children raw carrots, swede and potato, keep them in the fridge, they also help cool the mouth when they are teething.
My youngest son is now 13months and he eats things like chicken, fish (haddock, cod), he also likes cauliflower, broccoli, any of the root veg, basically any food that he can hold and eat, most of which he was chewing on at 8 months.

Cucumber sticks, Carrot sticks, Toast fingers with marmite or peanut butter, cheese, french bread, banana, apple, celery, tomatoes with the seeds taken out, soft fruit, one of mine used to love trying tiny pieces of adult food. She would nibble on roast potatoes or we would let her feed herself (with a spare bowl on the side) so she'd investigate her own bowl and we'd make sure we gave her extra spoon fulls from the spare bowl on the side. She was fed and felt she was feeding herself.

Depends on her chewing reflex if she just wants to chew on something and doesn't swallow lumps well stick to the harder stuff. If she swallows and chews well any fruit or veg is great.

Any thing that is likely to melt or disolve.....

Melon - every type is very good, apples also go down well, carrot sticks

My kid also loved wotsits, chocolate buttons, quavers

Try cooking potatoes wedges and leave little pots of dips with them - tomato sauce, BBQ sauce etc. Your babe will love getting the food all over her!!!
