With scent and touch.

The pungent aroma of flowers and the heat of the sun for bright colors.

Freshly picked plants (grass or horticultural maybe?), rubbed to release their chlorophyll, for the cool, subtle, invigorating aroma of greenery. Try different plants yourself first. Use the ones that smell green (and smell good) to you.

Try to equate the colour with a sound, or a smell, or a feeling. Have the person touch tiny plant shoots as they come up in the spring, have them touch leaves or roll down a hill. Listen to various instruments and think of what colour the sound is. An example: For me, the bagpipes make the most lovely green sound. Let them smell fresh cut grass, or rich soil. Take the person to a greenhouse and let them smell and feel what's there.

if the person has been blind for birth they have never seen any color so telling then what it looks like is not much use however telling them what it feels like or how it makes you feel is of great value to you both you get to struggle with how to describe how things that you see make you feel and they get to experience what seeing might make them feel like so you both win If this is really somethng that yu are trying to do and not just a philos 101 question keep it up... you are doing yourself and the blind person a reat favor... ever wonder what being blind tastes like?

You should watch the movie MASK with Cher and Sam Elliot.. a true story and the boy in the story goes to a blind camp. To help his new friend "picture" colors and descriptives he used different things... for red he used a hot rock.....and when that cools down it will be blue.. for billowy.. he used cotton balls.

All you can do is to describe what is common to both of you - i.e. the emotional feeling of the colour. You can describe red as a 'loud' colour and an 'aggressive' colour, and likewise green as a 'quiet' and 'restful' colour, but that's about as far as it goes.

I'd say its kind of like fresh cut grass or envy or St. Patrick's day and leave it at that. Blind man will just think I'm nuts, but no great loss.
