You can buy a priprietry silicon sealant remover. You need to get the bulk off first then use this stuff, its cheap, you can get it from wilkos, b&q etc.
It smells like lemon juice to me, so might be worth trying that first.
Leave it on for 15 minutes then wipe off, addding a litttle elbow grease as you go.

there's a product called silicone eater manufactured by Ever Build. You cut the thick off with a knife then apply this product leave for a few hours then wash away. you can buy it from B&Q.

dont know what the silicone is on but when i was putting new seal round bath someone told me to scrape excess off then go round with cotton ball with nail varnish remover on it as it would dissolve the bits left and guess what it worked (remember to rinse off the nail v remover)

caulk-be-gone. home depot sells it. it dissolves the silicone to make it easier to remove. you will need a tool for the easy removal as well talk to some one in the paint department.
