That's rubbish! Why have they told you that?? I had my first scan at 8 weeks and it was a little blob but I could see the heart beating really fast. With my second they scanned me at 9 weeks and 3 days and I could see him shaped like Casper the Ghost and he was moving around, even though I couldn't feel it, I could see him bouncing about. That early on in the pregnancy I was scanned internally which wasn't very pleasant and I had a normal scan across my belly at 12 weeks. Go back and insist.

About 5 to 6 weeks. Most doctors in the UK won't do a scan before 12 weeks though.
For picture of how your baby is developing see:

With my first scan I was 5 1/2 weeks they couldn't see anything. She told me to come back in 2 weeks and then she saw a little whit spot, I even saw the little heart beating, so I don't know why they said 8 weeks is too early.

Usually its around 8-12 weeks. The 12-week scan is the more important and its usually around this time that they tell you to go for your scan. The website shows you scan pictures from all trimesters. 8 weeks through to 36 weeks. Take a look, it may help you out!

Its really difficult for them to see anything untill 12 weeks - and its only much clearer by 16 weeks. Its because a baby at that stage is miniscule as is your womb which only grows bigger as the baby does.

Usually about your 2nd month they will do that depending on how developed the baby is. But you cant see what the baby is until your 4th month or so .
