Ovulation pains but no egg released?

I was just curious if anyone knows if you can have ovulation pains... with your cm... but not actually release the egg?... Any info is appreciated... Thanks bunches...

Ovulation-to produce and discharge eggs from an ovary or ovarian follicle.

Yes, you can. The pains wouldn't be actual ovulation pains, though, because that would indicate ovulation.
