or does all your lying pass under your own radar.
can you tell if someone is a compulsive liar because they are so convincible because they seem almost to run on lying like a car runs on petrol?

Compulsive liars tend to get caught when they overdo it, contradict themselves, or you find out an alternative version of events from somewhere else.
When confronted they deny it; its as if they think the version they give is the way it should be, so convince themselves that its better that way. I don't think they see it as 'lying'.
They seem to really believe what they say up to a point; that point being that they will get defensive when confronted with evidence that contradicts them.
The problem is that when they build a big web of lies they have to become extremely manipulative to keep everyone apart and stop them comparing notes; and I think some of them get off on that puppet theatre lifestyle.

Its probably best to ignore it and refuse to get involved.
Even if you do get concrete evidence you won't change them because they work by different social rules to the rest of us.

I know when I'm lying, but I don't lie that much, and when I do, they're white lies, so I'm not guilty at all.

I've known a few compulsive liars. One was a complete geek (nothing wrong with that) but lied about everything to pretend to be cool. Nobody liked him much, and I've heard that people still think he's a prat to this date. If he was honest from the start, he'd have been liked by most of us.

The moral of the story: don't lie compulsively. You'll not make many friends that way.

If I tell fibs which are only little ones because I am on reception and I tell sales people that people arent in to get rid of them, then yes I am totally aware of what I am saying. There are people that just lie all the time for reason what so ever, they must know because they have had to sit there and think it up.

I lie and am always aware of it , am usually outlawed and i don't care about what i am ordered to do religiously!!! when there is a benefit i do lie , most of the people who are in a really high stage do lie , a president , a leader , a business man who wants to attract his consumers , come on people ? who doesn't lie nowadays ? if somebody says that she/he doesn't lie he/she is actually lying to her/himself!!i am at least aware that i lie to myself 10000 times per day when i look at a chocolate and say eating it is the best thing in the world!!

i lie more than i should, gets me in trouble because i'm not good at it. i think i could be a compulsive liar even though i'm not good at it though. i regret lying more than getting caught though. most of the time i just do what people call "little white lies", either that or i just don't realize that what i'm lying about is so terrible.

Actually, research has been done on this subject and was found that the average person lies about 7-10 times a day. Everyone that responded that they never or rarely lie, just committed another lie!
