I ask as a girl friend of mine would gladly pay £100 for trainers and not for sport but fashion ! Is it vanity and would plain black plimsolls be ' in fashion' if a top girl band or actress wore them once on tv ?

I never wear trainers unless I'm at the gym. I love plain black ballet slippers, I think they are so stylish and feminine! And cheap too. It is vanity in a way and yes, celebrities often have an influence on fashion. But that isn't to say that girls don't have their own mind and can't choose what they find comfortable.

Yes, even thou she may want a pair that goes with the current fashion, make sure she buys a pair that is versatile to wear with other forthcoming trends. It would be a pointless for her to buy a red pair of trainers because reds in, then only to find out that it is out and that yellow or green is now in.

My advice is to stick with a plain colour like white or black, at least you can mix and match with these.

It depends on ur age i think.. when i was between 12-19 i was really fashion minded.. but since then ive got married and had two kids.. you begin to not care about what other ppl think about what u wear and u tend to go for comfort rather thn fashion..
