A lot of money, London is a very expensive place. You can go it on the cheap by staying in hostels and what not, but it is still expensive.

There are no "requirements" per se...
You will need to have enough time to visit all the sites worth seeing, I would say a minimum of a week.
Money enough for the trip and stay... (London is an expensive city).
Good walking shoes, some warm comfortable clothes and an umbrella and raincoat (just in case) ...
As to the rest:
London is one of the most touristic destinations in the world.. It is adapted to receive and care for visiotrs with no problem of the tourists origin.... If you are confounded for any reason, just find a Bobby (London police officer)...They are in general correct courteous and very helpful.
You have the double decker bus tours that are a fantastic and easy way to visit the city. The ticketes are valid 24 hours, and you pop on and off the buses as you please, at your own speed, and at whatever point of the city you want to visit. (There are several "circuits".
You will evidently be staying in a hotel, there is accomodation of all price ranges and located all over the city, go to a touristicwebsite or two and browse around to choose for yourself.
Take advantage of your visit to go and enjoy an evening at the theatre. There is always something wonderful on to see. (There is a place near Trafalgar square where you can buy theatre tickest at discount prices (sorry I don't remember the exact address, my son went for ours, but if you walk around Picadilly and Pall Mall you'll go past it).
While in London if you have time go out and visit Windsor Castle.
Go to the website of the Royal Residences, and take a look.
There are also wonderful Mansions in England, all worth eeing if you have the time...We visited Leeds Castle, in Kent. and then drove on to see Canterbury, which is a beautiful little town. also worth visiting:

Here are some websites for you to look into:

http//www.londontown.com

and

Enjoy your visit, London is one of the most magnificent cities in the world! Wish I could join you!!! I'd love to go back!
