It certainly has spiraled out of control. The death tolls, while still nothing approximating the losses in a real war, are really starting to become significant. Mostly its becoming clear that Iraq is not a single nation for any other reason than because ironfisted leaders have squashed dissent. We had great plans for a democracy there but the Iraqis are unmotivated to rise to the defense of their country and the insurgents are happy to kill the brightest and most dedicated leaders the country has. It's a shame. The people there hate us and think we're looking to conquer them.

Leaving we'd be facing defeat, an idea we don't like, but it seems like the resources there to build something strong and worthwhile are about spent. I certainly would not want to see our friends in the country handed back into the hands of bloodthirsty Baathists looking for vengence--but I really wonder if we have much in the way of friends over there anymore.

Yes, unfortunately it is a great hell for American troops; however, it is a worse hell for Iraqis. They are killing each other at a fantastic pace. I thought that Muslims hate Infidels but it seems that they hate each other even more. How does one live with such people?

Iraq is just a taste of war, Iran is probably more exciting and North Korea would be a challenging.

Actually Americans have a greater chance of being shot in Washington D.C. than in Iraq.

But Radical Muslims celebrate even when they lose, because they're insane.
