I like the name Dante, its cool. Maybe as a middle name though?

Maybe Dante's inferno comes to mind= not a pleasant picture= D

Their are so many names to choice from it's hard settling with just one name. Even the D names David, Dwayne, Darnell, Donald, Derek, Just to name a few.

My family friend's name is Dante. But I wouldn't use it for my child because it reminds me of Donkey.

May be because people realize that if it started as a last name, it should stay that way, and not become first name! I personally don't like it when first names sound like last names. E.g., Jackson, Mckenzie, etc.

Dantes inferno i guess... or maybe because Dante from Clerks kind of sucked

I don't think it's that rarely used. I've seen several people mention it lately. I think it's rising in popularity.
