Because it's the right thing to do, it keeps you out of trouble, earns respect from others, and keeps you from getting a black eye. Or shot, depending on your neighborhood. Of course, respect has to be earned; there are some folks who don't deserve respect, but who those people are is often hard to say. Thieves, rapists, murderers, and most politicians don't necessarily deserve respect. But then again, there is respect for a person, and respect for that persons rights. And always remember that your rights end where mine begin, and vice verse, and that is also a form of respect.

Respect given is respect earned! For instance i have had jobs where i was the low man on the ladder or the totem pole and have been treated like shite like a number or a slave or just someone to fill in for that position.I felt worthless because there is no respect. Then at another job i was put into a top spot where i ran a crew of people and i realize that i didnt want to be that guy or that girl that people look at as a shitty boss or a slave driver without ever respecting who they were as a human. So i taught as a equal to me & when i did that they gained my respect because i treated them with respect and they worked more efficient without stress. The same rule applies to life respect is character and it is a stregth admired by most!!
