Just do your work, be respectful, and do not communicate except about your work. Give no reason to be given detention, unless you like detentions, in which case, you are odd indeed.
I hate them or when I was younger and had to ground myself for not getting enough done!
I really did ground myself, by the way. Success was that important to me!!!

Stop 'hating' her and stop giving reason for your detention.

I'm not saying that your new tutor is someone 'you shouldn't hate,' you have every right to 'hate' whoever you choose. But 'Hate' is a very negative and consuming set of emotions ~ and it's 'your choice' as to whether you feel and behave the way you do ~ and supply her with reasons to put you into detention.

Additionally, won't your record show (I'm out of touch, so i don't know this ~ but ~ ) your behaviour in the future, when your old tutor returns? Will it not affect it?

It's a bit like 'slapping a dog' ~ and knowing that the chances are that you might just get bitten in response.

Although it's not an easy thing to do, you can still say to yourself, "It's My Choice to behave like this.''

Best of Luck.
Sash.

OK, Beci, this is what you do. Bear in mind that you only have to put up with the old bat til after Xmas - not too long, hey? So work with her! Change your attitude towards her and her attitude toward you cant but change. It is best not to be argumentative and disagreeable in these situations. For all we know, it may not be very easy on her either. She only has a brief period to win over her "new group". Understand that.
Coping with her seemingly obnoxious behaviour may make you stronger. Fighting against her WILL interfere with your overall perfromance and also blemish your character in school.

Ride the storm for now, Beci and become her star pupil before she leaves. Xmas is only around the corner and you have holidays to look forward to.

She sounds like a complete night mare...but you should speak to the head, and put forward a complaint for all you know this tutor could start to down grade your work, not to mention what effects this is having on you as a whole...if something is not done it could mess up your education prospects.....this needs to be dealt with in a diplomatic way......so deal with it now, before things get really bad.

This looks like a personality clash. 2 choices are open. Ask to have a word with her and see if you can resolve your differences - it might be that she wants you to do work in a different way etc - The best solution though is to go to your head of year/ Form and ask if they can mediate this as it seems that there is a misunderstanding somewhere and you would like to help resolve it. This will show maturity on your part as well - so giving you extra points

be a good girl until your old one returns. give it an extra effort . your new one is not going any where so you have to change.
Try being nice and when in detension use the time to study.

even when someone is horrible to someone the best way to be with them is so nice. dont give her ny reason to give you a detention, dont bite, just be polite and smile etc. you just might happen to be easy bait as you might bite too quick. all i can say is going through experience when some one has been horrible if you smile and say are you ok, type of thing it completely knocks the person for six and tells them that you are nice no matter of their attitude. i hope i make sense!!

You're obviously doing something all the time that causes her so much annoyance, so think what it is AND STOP DOING IT. You've just described that girl on the Catherine Tate show PERFECTLY - "do I look bovvered?". Just think, why is she giving YOU the detentions but not the rest of the class?

I would just stay behind after her lesson and just have a talk with her and ask how you can improve on getting along with each other.
