Okay. You're call but this has the potential to be a major security risk for you personally.
Bring a friend along with you and have them hang around in the back ground. Make sure they are always within at least eye contact with you.
Half way through, if things are going okay- make your appologies and go to the loo. Thats the cue for your friend to follow you in and you can say its okay and they can leave.
If you're feeling in anyway unsafe- have a hand signal that prompts your friend to move in and not leave your side.
The date will fail but you'll be safe and sound.

if you go do not i repeat do not go alone. make it a group outing after all . all you know about him is on the internet what he has told you. if you have to ask for advice you already know the answer don't meet him alone and be around people until you truely get to know him. your protection as well as his he should understand.
