While cosmetics composed of minerals, like Neutrogena's Mineral Sheers powder foundations, generally do not clog pores, sleeping without having first cleaned your face is not a good idea. No one should go to bed without first cleaning his/her face.

If you're lazy when bedtime comes around, like myself and countless others, one of the best products you can invest in is some type of cleansing cloth facial cleaning product. Personally, I use Biore Deep Pore Cleansing Cloths before bed. They work really well, and they clean your face and remove makeup without overdrying. I had to switch from a combination of Neutrogena and Clean & Clear because they were drying my skin too much. I normally have very oily skin, but a new medication I have to take dries my skin severely.

I've found Biore's Deep Pore Cleansing line to be the most gentle products to use, but if they don't work out for you, go for another brand, just avoid products with "Blemish Fighting", "Acne Fighting", or "Shine Control" in the description. You don't want to dry your face that much before bed.

While it's not life threatening, sleeping in your make-up can be very bad when doing it in consistency. At night is when your skin tries to renew itself, so it pulls in natural oils that were produced throughout the day. If you don't wash your face, let alone take off your make up, your pores will take in the make-up, dirt, and anything else that may be on your face, obviously not knowing what they are. That is why there are so many overnight face treatments and such, since the medicine will definitely be taken in. Make-up also ages your skin by just wearing it, so falling asleep with it consistently is not good. I've also heard that every night that you don't take off your eye make-up your eyes age four days. So I encourage you to just buy some make-up remover wipes, since they're so convenient and work so well. I use the cheap-o Albertsons/Equaline brand and they work just fine. And you'll wake up guilt free!

yes!! even without makeup u should wash ur face before u sleep and after u wake up. it is to remove the dirt and oil from ur skin. if u do not do so then the pores will be clogged overtime and pimples will form. i think if u do not put on foundation it is still not so bad, like only eye make up and lipstick. but if powder of any kind is used it have to go off before u sleep. i personally like the refreshing feeling after my face is washed.

YES ...very....ur clogging up ur skins pores and u will eventually if it's not already happening get older looking skin faster as well as blemishes and acne. Make it a habit to wash ur face before bed and remove all makeup then just put on some cream (cold cream works for me) as a moisturize. U'll look better in the AM too... =)

You should always wash your face every night, even if you aren't wearing makeup. During the day, your skin gets oily and attracts dirt. You should wash your face to get rid of all the dirt and oil. Sleeping in makeup once in a while won't kill your skin, but you shouldn't make it a habit.

Yes! It is bad to sleep with your make-up on!

First, there is the obvious - clogging of the pores, in turn, causes breakouts and other nasty infections.

Secondly, not to scare you but, there are tiny mites named Demodex folliculorum, or the demodicid, that lives in your pores and hair follicles. They are usually on your nose, forehead, cheek, chin and roots of your eyelashes (Basically your whole face.) People with oily skin, or those who use cosmetics heavily and don't wash thoroughly, have the heaviest infestations ... but most adults carry a few demodicids and their eggs. Inflammation and infection often result when large numbers of these mites congregate in a single follicle.

Basically, we all have them, but people who sleep with their make-up on will suffer eye infections or other nasty infections.

This also pertains to the sharing of make-up. By sharing make-up, you are spreading these nasty mites and adding more to your face. Remember to clean your brushes, mascara wands, and never double dip!

i do quite often, not because i don't get a bath at night its because i have a bath in a morning and then put my make-up on and i forget to take it off, well i have done it for 3 years or more now and it hasn't effected my skin in anyway so its fine to sleep with make-up on.

well, yes cos when your make up is covering your skin especially foundation, your skin needs to be breathable. this may sounds strange but its true, just like when u put contact lenses too long covering your eye causing redness.. friend of mine is a make up artist and she always put make up on and last it on her face for the whole day. she's been a make up artist for years and her face is so pale white that doesn't look like normal skin colour...
