...Me, Moorglademover Courier Services.
Got a phone call early tuesday morning, 0600.
Could i pick up a package and deliver it to somewhere
near Grimsby. Yup!
Went to pick it up from a depot near Birmingham and
they'd lost the paperwork! Without the paperwork, impossible
to locate the package... After finding the paperwork, 0845. I handed
it to the warehouseman who then went in search of the goods.
Coming back half an hour later saying he couldn't find the
package, my eyebrow twitched!
0920 the warehouse boss came out and took the paperwork
to see if he could find the package. He disappeared into the bowels
of the warehouse just as someone came round another corner with
my parcel.
20 minutes later my paperwork comes back round the same corner
my package did 20 minutes previously!
On my way now.
Stay with me.
Easy run, M42, M1, M18, M180. On the way up. Came back scenic
route, no rush!
Got home at about 1600(4pm), grabbed a cup of tea and went and sat
at the computer at about 1630. Looked out of the window and saw 6-7
kids on the wall opposite. There is a fairley busy road between our house
and the wall opposite. These kids, or one in particular saw it in himself
to thrwo a rock at a passing van. The stone bounced off the roof.
He then bent down and picked a five foot branch and hurled that
into the road. I shouted to Pat to phone the police and i was down the
stairs out the door and legged it across the road, narrowly missing being
hit by a car that had to swerve to avoid the branch in the road. Up the wall
the other side, which has a gate in it, and after the ne who did the deed.
Got him. His mates knew they'd screwed up, and so did the one i'd got
my hands on.
Dragged him back to our house while Pats still on the phone to the police.
This, boy, would not under any circumstances come in the house to
keep warm. I wasn't gonna force him. So we stood on the front of the house
waiting for the police to turn up.
Half an hour later, Pat phoned 'em again to see what was going on, and it was
suggested we would run him round home, he lived about amile away.
I relished this! I wanted to see what his parents thought of his little
escapade.
So we did. His mom wasn't pleased!
I gotto explain. I'm a driver, been driving lorries and vans for 12 years now
and I have seen a lot of deaths and carnage on the roads. I've seen the result
of something being hurled through a windscreen and the drivers lost control.
Which made it all the more unbelieveable how calm and collected and MINDFUL
of what I was doing when I'd grabbed this kid and 'detained' him at my house.
1800, the police turned up.
After taking notes, NOT a statement, we had a chat. I expressed my 'concerns'
of a possibility of 'repurcussions' on my part. Civil action by the kids parents
is what i was trying to tell him.
He said, "Not on my bloody patch. You did quite right in doing what you did
and I'm going to see that this young man will get a visit from an unimpressed
police officer!"
They left at 1845.
I had my tea and went back to my computer.
Wednesday I didn't work

Some day, huh?
Was the boys Mum 'not pleased' about what the kid had done, or because you had taken him there to wait for the police?

I wish there were more people who took action (Strong word but you know what I mean) against these trainee hooligans.

We all did stuff when we were kids, but these days they think it is funny to throw bricks through bus windows etc.

I say nice one! You deserved a day off work and I hope that Pat made the following one a day to remember too!

All the best and good luck.

Well done Eamonn, that is certainly some day ! Excellent stuff re the kids on the wall, thanks on behalf of us all.

My day involved 60 mins cardio plus 15 mins weights at the gym, some jolly sex at lunch time, long walk to see old friend (bus strike plus pedometer habit) couple of glasses of wine and an early night. But I'm a pensioner, we have to make our own fun!

Heaven's no, i could prefer to respond to this one than the single that proclaims, '2 factors?' a minimum of I definitely have a shot at getting maximum suitable answer in case you like mine properly adequate. the two pointer exhibits me that the questioner has no purpose of resolving the question on his own.

you did the right thing.I get tired of hearing "boys will be boys" and "they're just having fun, they're just playing. My day:Woke up at 10 a.m.,missed the 4 alarms I had set.Got out of bed hoping I would not fall down.(several strokes and a heart attack later)Some days I can't walk or talk.Today I shuffled and slurred, but I made it.Still waiting for call from social worker,P.T. and O.T.Took three hours to fax new medical info. to doctor's.Checked on mother.I'm her care-giver.She has cancer.Still waiting for help ,to help me take care of her.8 months now.Took 15 different medications to keep me going.Petted my dogs, fed them, laughed at them.Spent two hours thinking of new job I could do.Made plans to bake 70th. birthday cake for mother for Thanksgiving.Ate dinner, came to my office and played on computer way too long.Started to feel down and made myself count my blessings, which are many.Told my mother goodnight, let one of the dogs sleep in my bed.It makes him feel special.Realized that I'm still special too, even though I don't feel it.Thought about the people who are so much worse off than me.Laughed out loud that therapist dropped me due to my low self-esteem,brought on by having friends and cake clients drop me.That' ironic.and because my husband is not supportive, neither is his girl "friend" But,I realized that I love me,I matter,I worked hard for 48 years and that I will go to bed tonight in a good mood, and wake up tomorrow in a good mood.I will find another career path, and I will continue to help others, and above all,I will be grateful that I get to take care of my mother and bake her cake and pet my precious dogs.Without love,I would have nothing and I'm too selfish to have nothing.I hope that you see my day as a blessing, because it truly is.

Interesting day? It's only 8:50am. There's still another 15 hours to go...

So far - got up, had breakfast, got the train, came to work. Not very interesting.

You can only blame Blair for the rotten way this country is in, no respect for individuals or property and the police are only interested in collecting taxes from motorists

I'm quite shocked, round here you would be charged for assaulting the kid! Luckily your police seem to have more common sense!
