those coffee place take-aways. He sat with it so proudly as the steam was coming away from it and starting to look round at everyone on the bus and smiling. Why did he do this? He sat with it in such a way that he wanted his mug from home to be noticed or something? Was he looking for some kind of reaction?

Yep - the man's a tw*t. There's a slight chance he was doing it as a bet, but probably more than likely he's just a tw*t. He's the type of person who wear novelty ties and thinks he's crazy - and you know he probably thinks he's the office joker when in fact everyone just wants him to fall out of the high-rise window.

you must be from the west coast !, perhaps he was in a good mood and wanted to share that good mood and his favorite mug with the world, yet you act as though it's a crime {common for the west coast} i got the same treatment when i lived in san diego and my bike broke down and i had to ride the bus to work, but even so i was in a good mood when i got on the bus, and being polite {a strange concept for west coasters i know}, said in a joyful manner "good morning", and the response was people cowering in theur seats as if i was an axe murderer about to kill them, just because i dared speak to them, such cowardly sheep. that's when i decided to come back to the midwest, where people may not trust you, but are still polite, and not cowardly !, so please remember that your actions affect others moods, weather it be positive or not !

Oh god. I'm sure he thought it was cool to be quirky. I'm also sure he thought he was the first person that's ever been "daring" enough to have done that. Seriously, he most likely didn't have enough time to put it in another container so he was trying make the best of it and turn into a wacky story to tell his friends.

Was the mug a present from his girlfriend with "Worlds Greatest Lover" written on it.

The bus may be serving as an extension of his home environment. Did he put it to good use, ie did he consume the coffee? There are more efficient ways of keeping drinks warm.

Why do you care? You're riding a bus. You're gonna see stuff that is out there every day on a bus. I mean come on, I've riden a bus all over the country and I always see some crazy stuff.

Maybe he was just content to bring a piece of home along with him.

Considering that a mug is something you can wash and reuse again and again, and not just some disposable cup to be thrown away, I commend him for his environmental consciousness.

It could of been that he was running late for work so he decided to take his coffee, along with him....some people are not afraid to be themselves regardless of how bazaar their actions seem to other people.....to be free in every aspect of their lives.....that's a good thing sometimes.

Probably proud to be breaking the rules. Or, remember, the bus has an inordinate amount of mentally unstable people because they aren't allowed to drive.
