What I am about to say is weird, but I read this in a book about friends, companions, acquaintances, colleagues, etc....

There was a part in the book that talked about the idea that attractive and/or good looking popular people will hang around others alike. Then there will be the occasional one or two not so physically attractive, but magnetic personality-type people in those groups. These are the really cool friends that these guys love to be around regardless of there appearance.

Yes, it sucks to say that people are indirectly that shallow. But I didn't say it. The book stated it.

Anyways, back to answering your question of if appearance matters in friendship...
I think it doesn't. People look to be friends with someone whom they can gain more knowledge from or who can help them learn to better become the person they want to be.

Someone who usually shares the same values.
If not, then maybe same hobby or some type of common ground.

apperance matters but little bit, most important your attitude matter towards friendship. No one see the face or apparance if the attitude of friends is +ve towards u.

Appearance does not matter, but sometimes it helps. You are attracted to some one's apprearance, but soon if you find that person is not worthy, you shall not continue. Appearance is like a catlyst I should say. It some times initiates recations, but it is not the main requirement of the reaction called friendship.

seems are a superficial element, what make a stable pal to me is the effort-free of the internal self. You heard the saying seems are only skin deep. To me climate you may nicely be depended on, are you truthful, are you able to be there for me while i'm suffering. can we share those intimate circumstances, are you able to and that i advance at the same time. that's what i look for in my guy. My ultimate pal is my sister, because of the fact she is there for me in all strategies. She is the only i can communicate over with approximately something, I certainly have shared the main intimate issues together with her that's what i look for in a pal. so which you notice seems are actually not the main mandatory element. The are only and extra benefit

To me, outward appearance does not matter. Inward appearance does. By that, I mean a good heart, caring personality, things like that.
