I play PF or Center. When I'm playing against Man to Man defense, I don't have any problem getting open and I can score easily because I have a pretty good one on one skill. But when I'm playing against Zone Defense ( 2 outside, 3 inside ), I have trouble getting open. And when I get the ball, there are already 3 inside defender waiting for me. What can I do to get open?

Also against zone defense ( 2 outside, 3 inside ), when playing PF / C, which one is better:
1) keep moving to get open? Also which area?
2) Fight for position? Which inside defender should I fight for position: the middle or one of the side defender?

Thanks a lot to those who already share their knowledge. I really appreciate it.

have the other big man set you pics, or go high low have the other big man set up out by the free throw line and you guys can rotate, also the guards need to do thier job of swinging the ball to get the defense moving, id say have one guard be in the corner and pass it to him and hopefully that will bring one of the guys playing d downlow out to cover him and open things up. other then that id just say work on your short jumper.

Most big men playing against the 2-3 zone can get open around the area just below the free-throw line or the standard low post. The problem you are facing since you are being surrounded by 3 players is probably due to 1. your guards are not hitting any outside shots so defenders can collapse down on you or 2. you don't have any players on one side of the court. Mostly, big men can get a quick shot around the 8-12ft area...but a low-post big men is more reactive against the zone specially if they know to double on him all the time.

Pics don't work very well against a zone defense. Quick passes are the easist way to beat a zone defense. If they are playing a 2-3 zone, try flashing to the high post around the free throw line. If you hit a few jumpers there or the other post player hits a few jumpers from there, it should open up a little under neath!

The best way to get open against a 2-3 zone is to learn to move without the ball. Also, remember that PASSING the ball is the quickest way to defeat any zone. If the ball is held for any length of time, the defense will have time to "catch up" to the ball and establish themselves between you and the basket.
