I definitely get scare. i sometimes get so paranoid that i've actually walked around a corner with my cell phone predial 9-1 just waiting to see if i need to hit the other 1. also, i have this heavy cop flashlight, and i always pick it up and place it next to me. does anyone else get that paranoid about stuff? sometimes i won't even need to hear scary noises, but it'll just hit me that i'm all alone....especially if i'm watching law and orderp; u'd be surprised how watching a cop show freaks you out...does it do that to you?

i'm just gonna clarify that this isn't a daily or weekly, or monlthly occurence. the whole phone thing was like once....but the flashlight thing is like my safety net for just in case...

NOPE -- now that I am FINALLY an empty-nesting Single (with a new and upgraded Security System installed and working in MY HOME) -- I am QUITE comfortable there each and every day. I also do just about all my own maintenance on the home and land, so I know everything is definitely in working order.

Jesica, I will jump if someone comes into the room or makes a sudden noise if I'm watching a scary movie or reading a scary book. But what you describe is something that is debilitating to your life, and your enjoyment of life. You need to seek counseling and lay off of Law and Order, a show I also love, but it's getting to you too much. You probably have a good (possible overactive) imagination, something that can be a wonderful assett in many situations and profssions. But an over-active imagination can also be a detriment. Talk to a counselor. You're not crazy but you do need some help getting a handle on your obsessions.

I've met a lot of people who get scared like that when they watch especially Law and Order. What is it about that show? Any cop/drama show that scares you. I just stopped watching those kinds of shows because it seems like all the creaks in the house have to happen right then. I hate that feeling. I think it's better to watch something else than to get all psyched out. I think when you're by yourself especially it's better to watch the things that make you laugh or relax or get into a good story than the things that make you scared.

You sound just like a replica of my good self. If I am home alone for the night I sleep with my phone in my hand and something heavy near my bed should I need to clobber something unpleasant. I think it's because I'm a big kid at heart. It's not a major problem for me, I kind of think it's funny (though I'm not laughing at 3am when I hear a noise and get way paranoid). Those sort of shows do the same thing to me. I still watch them though. I wont watch creepy spooky shows when I'm by myself though or I just can't unwind. My friends think it's funny because I'm a grown woman with 2 kids. Like I said, I'm a kid at heart, and it doesn't make me incompetent, in fact I'd say it helps should something go wrong because I'm always prepared.

Yer i do slightly. Aswell after watching loads of horror movies, that does not help the situation. I used to get very scared, as i lived in a very old house that loads of people have lived in, and dies in. However now, i live in a new-built house, so it isnt bad as i do not hear noises or worry about anything. I just put music on loud and i forget everything!! you should try it, cya !! :)

i think you take those shows way to serious. ya evrebody says this can't hapen to you, and you tink you never know what can hapen to you; but if you live with this fear then you can't say you are realy livin. cause evrebody dies some day, but if you're thinking that you may be next all the time you will mis the best in life. so have a happy life and enjoy the rest of it!

yep a bit scared but not like the one above.....

esp when i;m sure about the locks on door i won't worry about it.

Keep watching a good film (not a scary one ;-) ) or do something to get lost yourself
make sure you lock everything before doing so
Good Luck!
