I have a tube connected to a pipe (plastic) that is used for sucking the water out of a fish tank when changing the water, alge has built up in the pipes of this. Does anyone have a suggestion for cleaning it?

Also anyone have a good solution to cleaning off alge off rocks in the tanks? i can't use scrubbing brush, don't have sucky fish, or would like to use specials.

Thanks, sorry for spelling, can't remember how to spell alge.

Never bleach your aquarium decorations, or use soap on them. For the pipes and the aquarium decorations, soak them in very hot water (almost boiling), and then scrub them with an old toothbrush (if the old toothbrush won't reach all the way into the pipes, you can tape another toothbrush or popscicle stick or something to it). Then, after you've scrubbed off all the algae with a toothbrush, let the decorations and the siphon dry completely, to make sure any remaining algae is dead.
Also, to prevent algae in the aquarium, you should keep your aquarium lights on less than 8 hours a day, and you can get peaceful algae eating fish like siamese algae eaters or oto catfish.

Go to a pet store that has fish they will have a ugly little fish that is a sucker fish they eat algae that is their main diet. I just always called them algae eaters. The ones I'm talking about are freshwater fish. But if it is a saltwater tank I'm there is a type for those also. Good luck with you're fish, tank, and algae eaters. Sorry I can't remember the real name for the little suckers but they will know at a fish store.

Use a soft answer of bleach water and a scrub brush. I went to Lowes and with the cleansing components they sell those extremely stiff brushes that is linked to a broomstick take care of, which in addition they sell. it works great! beneficial beats doing it on your palms and knees that's what I did a pair of circumstances in the past seeing the comb and take care of. only rinse it down with the backyard hose once you're executed.

The best way to remove algae from aquarium decorations is soaking them in bleach and water ! Just be sure that they have been rinsed thoroughly before you put them back in the aquarium !
