Why do these people get married and divorced and married again so many times? Can't these people lead normal lives?

Legally 3:
Mimi Rogers - married on May 9, 1987, divorced February 4, 1990
Nicole Kidman - married on December 24, 1990, divorced August 8, 2001
Katie Holmes - married in Bracciano, Italy on November 18, 2006, divorce...probably very soon...
But actually he's had 4 "ceremonies" if you count he married Katie "legally" in LA before they went to Italy.
To answer your 2nd ?:
I guess the old adage is true, "you can't buy happiness".
But they sure try! LOL
I think most fall in "love" while shooting a scene so I guess they ain't such good actors, huh?
Seriously, I think lack of morals is a big factor.
Most are living their lives like a soap opera.
It seems just about all of them have been married, lived with or dated each other at one time or another.
Even w/ all their money they are still chasing that dream.
