go to http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html
in the left column, choose your windows version
(you can see what version of Windows you run when your PC starts up)
once you have selected the windows, click on Radeon in the middle column then in the right column, look for 9800 (it comes as 1st one underneath the Xcards)
click on the Go underneath the 3 columns
choose option 2 (click on Display Driver)
accept the license agreement
save the file
once the download is completed, click on Open
follow the instruction of the ATI driver installer
after the reboot, you may have to go to Control Panel
(Start button, Settings => Control Panel, Display
click on the Settings tab (uttermost right) and adjust the screen resolution as needed

My recommendation is download several versions of the drivers, so if one doesn't work, you can always change to a different one.

In your case, I would go into safe mode, set the display card to "generic VGA" or whatever that'll do minimum 800x600, then try installing the drivers again.

If that doesn't work, try an older version, and so on.

ATI is famous for their driver issues and believe me Ive dealt with them
I just discovered a HUGE bug in their latest All-In-Wonder drivers that resulted in hours of research to find a workaround.

If you are just dealing with just display vs. display and capture drivers the good news is that your problem is fairly easy to remedy.
Your very fist step is to delete the folder
c:\ati from the system
Whenever you install a driver a copy of that driver is stored there, in order to prevent accidentally re-installing bad drivers this is critical.

ATI makes a driver un-install utility that removes all previous installations. (with the exception of the above folder)
check here for instructions
http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894

Afterward, restart and install your previous version.
The last known working catalyst driver I have managed to locate is 6.2 which can be found here

You MUST restart before installing the new driver however.

IF this does not resolve your issue feel free to drop me a line

Try going to crucial.com , they carry Radeon. They might have driver downloads.
