It already is. As they are much more subtle than we, it does not look like much, unless you look closely as you have. They have been buying up parts of the US, Africa, the Pacific Rim, and negotiating deals all over the world as well. The have invested heavily in education while our kids can't compete with Rwanda in math and science. AS the world goes digital, and international conglomeration of business is nearly complete, people in our society will find they cannot compete, lacking even the basics in education. I think we may well wake up one morning to find we have fallen way behind, and discover we have become a third world nation.

i assume something is attainable. although the substantial element the U. S., China, and India have over the British is sheer inhabitants. you won't be able to guard a standing military the size of the chinese from a inhabitants as small as Britain's. you also don't have the business base that both the U. S., China, or India has. and that is what determines effect a techniques better than the protection rigidity. are you able to initiate one? that's problematical to say, in view that that calls for fairly some capital funding and that is problematical to come back by at the moment.

China is already a global power!
Beyond the obvious statistical indicators, i believe that its the ability of a state to get things its way that determines its power status in international relations. in that sense China is already there. One of the reasons for this is that it has used its resources well and invested heavily in research and development in all the fields. today more people around he world are learning Chinese than any other language!
But at another level GDP is not a real indicator of a state's power, its the per capita income. As the most populous country China had to be number one some day. Its strength will matter when it matches US in per capita terms. that will take real long time and efforts!

No China would never be a global power. China's economy is dependent on the US market. Without US money China is back in the primitive age. One obvious indicator: many Chinese strive to move to America and I doubt their is one American who opted for Chinese citizenship. The largest military in the world couldn't defeat Vietnam in the 80's (oops bad example :-)

no, it won't. although china's collective GPA is extremely high, due to their huge population, their GPA per capita only ranks 86th worldwide. How can such a weak country be a super power? I believe it will fall just like former Soviet.

No
Because China will collapse
Because it's too big and has too many people to be governed by a bunch of cowards who are too afraid to tell their bosses that they are wrong or cowards.
