You can download a special script writer's toolbar for Word from the BBC writer's page called ScriptSmart.

There are lots of web sites devoted to writing scripts, most however stick to the art of films or drama, where the script is dialogue led, and the action led by a plot.

For documentaries and game shows, the script is a bit different, but some rules still apply

One page of script should = 1 minute of film, and producers will expect to see 30 pages of script for a 30-minute show.

The script is written in courier at 12 point, that's the tradition, and most scripts need a short introduction, an overview.

For a series, like a game show, you will need to sell it as a run of ‘x’ number of shows, and allow for adverts in the timing. You must also consider how many shows that you are going to film at once; the audience, the location and the way you will link up the prizes or game theme to possible sponsors.

The page is divide into two for the script, with the camera action, down the near side, and the sound down the left-hand side; this includes dialogue, music, special effects sounds, and even the clapping machine.

Your best bet is to do some media evening classes, for it takes a while to get an idea circulated, and be prepared to get you ideas ripped off.

There is something called "Project Greenlight" (search on google) which was started by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck to encourage budding talent. There you can submit scripts for review and as well as have a look at scripts that others have written. But the catch is once you download the script of one writer you can download the next only after you have given your review on the previous one. I have read a script called "The Molecule" which gave me a pretty good insight into writing a script

in case you pick to jot down a script I advise getting some books on the topic. Scriptwriting isn't like prose writing in the will arises be extra concise and bypass swifter - which ability you down't have 30 pages like in a singular to develop your substantial characters. you would possibly want to attempt this with some sentences of narrative and some strains of verbal substitute. each and every recognize verbal substitute might want to upload to the tale or the nature and that i advise each and every be conscious. keep the lengthy monologues on your play - movie verbal substitute should be no better than 2 to 4 sentences max. also movie scripts are written in tight acts. Act one:10 pages provide or take 3 or 5. You introduce set and placing, characters, and the substantial conflict. (Your substantial personality needs something - money the lady, to win something, revenge, fulfillment, and so on. something is status contained in the way of his or her getting what she or he needs - it truly is the conflict she or he has to conquer with their brains, brawn and so on) Act II is the substantial body the position the conflict and the nature of the reliable guy and undesirable adult men are better. that's the longest element of your script. In a function of 100 pages (make sure on a million web page equalling a million minute of movie) Act II is everywhere from 60 to 80 pages. Act III: Is the climax and determination the position the substantial personality has the huge strive against, or runs the huge race and ultimately overcomes the substantial conflict contained in the most important warfare of the movie and the resoluiton is in various of circumstances very short - 5 pages max in a function length movie the position we tie up each and every of the free ends and get a concept the position the substantial characters are going. format for a movie script is unique to prose. i might want to educate you even though it would take too a lot time. Get a reliable e book or 2 from the web and performance at it. right that's a reliable internet web site for such books:

Check out the BBC writers' room, which will tell you everything you want to know. Doesn't matter that you're not aiming for a BBC audience. You can get advice (online help), plus download free formatting macros for Word. Have a look.

Failing that, get the "Writers Handbook" (yellow cover) or "Writers and Artists Yearbook" (red cover) from Smiths or Waterstones.

You need to be careful so no-one pinches your idea!

I did a Writer's course once, at home, and it laid out how to write a script and everything you needed to know about selling your work.

The reply above seemed sensible to me.
