Lisa Kudrow played the same character on both Mad About You and Friends. Interesting, but pales to insignificance next to the most travelled character in TV history. The thespian who played this character started out doing stand-up and a TV talk show, but found their niche when their TV alter-ego went on to appear on SEVEN different prime time TV shows! Some obviously connected, others not so much. Who is the character OR the peformer...you don't need both..........

Maybe it was Robin William's character from Mork and Mindy. He played an alien and I seem to remember him popping up on all kinds of different shows.
