this sucks. I have a friend whos been my friend all through highschool. Him and I are basketball junkies. We consider ourselves the best in our city for filipino's no one has matched us. however lately, he's been showing disinterest in the game. he doesn't train or workout. or even shoot. I still work out twice a day. BUT jes gettting better than me. this is a progression of 10 months so far. He does nothingat all only plays video games and works, but when we play he top notch he's even getting better than me. no matter how hard i work or try it doesn't matter he still comes out on top........HOW?!!?!!?!?!

this is the best example of sport being mental as well as physical...you maybe suffering from fatigue if you keep working out twice each day...pace yourself a bit more and dont let other people's performances affect the way you think or play...each person has his own way of preparing for games....perhaps his video game playing has improved his responses and coordination on court....perhaps the best suggestion is to be more methodical in your workouts and spend more time on your weaknesses rather than strengths....good luck

That's also what happened to me. I train hard yet I still get beat in practice, but after 6 months, I beat him close, 30-29. Up until now Im better than him because I train more than him. You gotta learn what the weaknesses of your friend is and how you can adapt to those weaknesses.

When all he does is guard on the inside, shoot the jumper off him. If he now decides to follow you and stick close, flex your legs and get by him for an easy layup. Try to learn fadeaways and master them. Always box out whenever there is a rebound. And since he's not working out, try to exhaust him by having a running game, and dont make bad decisions. Usually you get mentally disturbed that you cant seem to do what you do in practice. Find his weaknesses on offense too. He might not be able to shoot jumpshots very well when your hand is blocking his view. It's all about improvement of your basketball IQ.

These are all I got. Try searching youtube for Jordan's video about basketball, keyword is FUNDAMENTALS OF BASKETBALL. Im sure that will help you as you train. You learn how to use your opponent's defensive stance to your advantage, and you learn how to make his fadeaway. And what's amazing, is, these are all only fundamentals.

Anyway, Pilipino po ako. So I think this will help.

A lot of this type of sport comes down to pure natural ability. There are numerous kids that dream of being the next Michael Jordan etc. but are stopped shourt because their body just isn't going to develop as well as someone elso.

It is fact that a lot of us hate to admit, but no matter how hard we practice sometimes we will never be the "best."

Play basketball for fun. Use this as competition for yourself and continue to practice. If your friend continues to be better, be happy for him and his natural ability. Also, be happy any time he is your teamate!

Happy Hooping!
