This is called Mid Life Crises. The mid life crisis is a process of finding one's true preferences, and breaking the stranglehold that other influences have on our own behavior, thoughts and feelings. So you say you are happily married but there has to be something that is not there in your marriage that you are looking elsewhere. You say that your spouse knows about the friendship but does the spouse know about the love? They would be deeply hurt if they would know.

After so many years of marriage looking out for support from someone else shows that the marriage was not successful. Instead of finding love in the new friend why don’t you start talking with your wife? You both should sit and have long chat. Why don’t you find the missing link and start working on that first. Then further small things that the partners can do for each other are they should thank each other when they do something for you. Surprise them on and off with gifts or just cooking up a great meal. Making your spouse feel special and loved. and Last but not the least, there is no single recipe for marital success.

Novelist John Berger once said, "All weddings are similar, but all marriages are different." Every couple must find their own formula. So Go on and make your own!

Good Luck

I don't know what is your meaning of 'happily married'. If a person is happy in marriage, he or she loves the spouse so much that it is difficult to even think of loving somebody else. Also there is a risk of hurting the sentiments of spouse. And Sir, you have used two terms in your question- love & friendship. You must be sure first wether it is love or friendship; these are not interchangable. Friendship is definitely a possiblity.

Dear dear there is nothing wrong in being good friends. U can no doubt even love a person, if ur concious is clear than dont bother about d society, if ur better halfs r comfortable and know about it than what wrong one can see in it. U r really blessed to have a loving partner and a loving friend, b proud of it. Dont have any guilt. Very few can understand such relations and very few get good friends who understand u. I personally feel life is too short and uncertain enjoy every bit of it. These youngsters hve replied in a funny way. I ask why is LOVE always linked with sex ?Grow this relation even more strong and healthier and show d society how happy both families r. Best of luck.

They are happily married. The 'friendship' is known to the spouses. No sex is involved.

Just consider these three factors again and try to analyse the situiation. The respective families have approved the 'friendship' and not a 'love affair'. There might be resistance or opposition to the affair. The two may not be 'happily married' anymore.

IF THE BARGAIN HAS ANY THING GOOD IN IT, THEN MY ANSWER IS - WHY NOT.

But is it worth that?

ENJOY YOUR FRIENDSHIP & HAPPY MARRIED LIFE AS WELL.

NO Not if you are happily married. Can a 58 yr.old man lust after a 45 yr.old women? Yes of course! But Love is not what you think it is , What you feel is Lust. Feelings of being Lonely ,Boredom, So much more .But remember sin does feel good for a short time. But everlasting LOVE is 4_ever .Stop playing and focus's on your Wife not another Mans Wife.

Hapiness is from soul but not from the age, probably at that age every one needs a partner, who can come along the whole life and share the difficulties, at the age of 58 you could have completed all your burdens, and feel like going out in the evening for a walk, etc. you can lead a happy life, it is not limited to any track

They're not that happily married if they have to look for friendship outside the marriage rather than with their own spouse.

your words are very contradicting. you mention love there are many forms of love.. if you are friends then yes you can love them as a friend. but since you mentioned happily married leads me to believe there is more than friendship.. you cant be both happily married and love someone else.. in my humble opinion.
there is only one man in my heart and there will only ever be.
