I know what I have to do, I know where I have to go, I know how much it takes to get there. The problem is, my parents dont know it. I've mentioned it before. They don't take it seriously though! I've been rehersing a 15 minute speach for my mom, I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

I mean, I'm not going to get into drugs or join some strip club or anything... But this is what I want to do. How am I supposed to do it without their support? Should I go with the 15 minute speach?

Although i have personally never been in that situtation i can understand wanting to do something so badly but then having people think your just messing around... although acting is hard to get into it is possible and if you want it bad enough, which it sounds like you do, then you can do it...

It's ard to talk to parnets alot of the time and i understand that, but the best way to make a point is to tell them striaght foward and explain hwo you can understand how it may seem like a stretch and that you understand that they might not take you seriously but that you do wish for them to support you and that you are going to give it your all. I don't think reading something is going to help, parnets like heart felt stuff and if you really want it you'll be able to do it, even if they don't support you and tell you you cant do it, prove them wrong...

Best of luck!

You do understand reality. In theater you won't make anything to begin with. Then you'll make maybe $200 a week. As a movie extra in Los Angeles (Not New York) you can make betwen $40 and $120 a night. NY doesn't give overtime after 8 hours only after 40 a week from the same employer.

Understand without a SAG card or eligibility you won't get most parts.

Understand a SAG card in Los Angeles costs $1250 cash, no payments.

My cowork, who made $20K doing extra and stand in work went to NOTHING after she got her SAG card.

SAG covers extras, TV and movies.

Understand a room in Los Angeles will cost you $650 a month in a horrible area.

You need a car there, bus transportation is horrible.

YOu HAVE to be on a set promptly or you don't work.

You HAVE to stay once you're there, even if it runs 16 hours or they won't call you back.

I hope your telemarketing and waitress skills are good! That's how you'll survive the rest of the time.

Tell your mum again. If she still doesn't take you seriously explain why you want to become an actress. If she thinks it's silly say if she was really a mum then she should support you and respect your dream. She'll understand.

Try the speech but remember teenagers often think a stage is something they should be on when really it is something they are going through
