Why it has to be sex? There are lots of man-women relationship. Ranging from bussiness to just-friends relationship. Co-work relationship isn't bad either as long as the competition didn't get too hot (no pun).
So YES, there can be other relation between man and woman, besides sex, even if they aren't married.

They can be friends who don't sleep together. Of course, some cultures may frown on it, but in most western cultures men and women can be friends with each other.
