Since Thursday, I have ben feeling severely fatigued, blacking out, and just plain weak. I have also been getting headaches and chest pain. I went to the doctor today and they determined that I'm just overworked and tired. It feels like something more. Any ideas?

They didn't want to do bloodwork because they knew my hemoglobin would be low. I started my period today. But this has never happened before. I'm supposed to go back if I don't feel better

If they took a pint (the regular amount) it usually take the "average" adult about 2 weeks to replace the blood. However I have a friend who's about 5'1" and 110ish who can't donate blood because it takes her a long time to recover (close to 3 weeks). But on the other hand I have a friend who's 6'3" and 260ish who doesn't even notice a missing pint.

Did you have a simple test to estimate your Hb content before you donated blood? Blood donation is best not done by women who have low Hemoglobin levels. Have you been eating at the proper timings since you donated blood?

Is this the first time you are donating blood? There may be some anxiety factor involved if it is the 1st time. Eat well and relax in the thought that you've done a great deed. Yes, blood donation is one of the noblest thing to do, ofcourse after an eye donation!

PS: Dont let this one episode prevent you from donating blood the next time. Please check your Hb levels before donating.

Are you anemic? Is your thyroid OK..did they do bloodwork or use a crystal ball? Is it PMS? Blacking out is not a fatigue issue..go to powersurge.com it is free and you can put in specific symptoms and look at others with similar issues...

The blood drive thing is cured by carbohydrates that is why they give out cookies and juice...

Its nothing serious. You were about to have your periods and this is how your body reacted. Best to not donate for a while, eat plenty of iron foods and take a few breaks!
