Yes, I saw The Birds many years ago and I agree with you, it's a very frightening film.
It seems the birds are fed up with people being the boss (taking away their freedom) and they are going to show who is boss now. They attack without reason and they upset the normal order of the world (society).
You asked whether everyone died at the end of the movie. As I remember it, the lovers were trying to get away - the girl was badly injured by the birds. However, I think Hitchcock left the ending open - it's not sure whether or not the girl survives. It's also not sure whether the birds or the people win the fight for survival. I think he left the ending open because it is more scary to not know what happened.
Hitchcock was a master at suspense and most of his movies are classics that are still exciting and thrilling to watch.

This is a classic horror film. I've got it on DVD and from watching the extra features, it appears that there was another ending where the birds continue to attack the car as they drive away, only to pull away and stop once the people made it to the main highway. Hitchcock decided not to shoot it that way, and even deleted some dialogue that explained the birds behavior so it would be more mysterious as to what was happening.

The birds 2. was quite exiting movie. In the 1. there was no thrill, but I watched enthousiasticly it to see how people lived in the sixties. I think that the evinrude outboardmotor that the woman drove there in the lake, didnt "really" start with a just one pull.

Yes. You should see all of Hitch's movies. One of my favorites is "Rope" because of the way it was shot. It was shot like a play with the walls able to move out of the way for the cameras. Hitch appeared in all of his movies except one, "The Wrong Man". Actually he did appear in it, but it was as himself at the very beginning. He did not hide himself in this film as he did all of his others. The reason is that it was based on a true story and he thought it would be disrespectful to have a cameo in it. Hitch was a genious. Watch and learn.

Yes. I've seen a lot of Hitchcock movies. I didn't think "The Birds" was that scary, though.

I love that movie. One of the reason that I liked it so much is because he didn't give a reason for the birds going nuts or if it was happening everywhere. Sometimes not knowing is wayyy scarier.

i saw this movie, and it reminded me a little of the movie signs, which is sort of similar except theres aliens instead of birds.
it was a good movie, but i think i would have been scarier if they used something other than birds.
