I have to make a timeline for my U.S. History class, listing 10 important events from the discovery of America to the XYZ affair (shortly after the Constitution). Currently I have 15 ideas:

1. 1492 - Columbus lands in the New World
2. 1607 - Founding of Jamestown
3. 1620 - Pilgrims arrive in the New World
4. 1692 - Salem Witch Trials
5. 1765 - The Stamp Act
6. 1767 - The Townsend Acts
7. 1770 - The Boston Massacre
8. 1773 - The Boston Tea Party
9. 1774 - The Intolerable Acts
10. 1775-1783 - The American Revolution
11. 1776 - The Declaration of Independence
12. 1789 - Constitution Adopted; Washington made president
13. 1793 - Eli Whitney invents the cotton gin
1797 - The XYZ affair

Which do you think should be included? Do you have any dates/events that should be added?

The Salen Witch Trials is the only thing I would question in the list.

You need to list the French and Indian wars fought in the 1750s that cost all of the money that caused the king to initiate the stamp act to pay for it. and of course the Stamp Act was the beginning of unrest that led to revolution.

I would probably take out one of the Grenville acts and put in the Constitutional Convention
