It's a common enough surgery, and you shouldn't be hospitalized for more than a few days post-operatively I would think. At any rate, you are not going to be that comfortable whichever route you choose to go. You can check out the hospitals before you go, and evaluate them for the things which are important to you. Most public hospitals offer private or semi-private rooms for an extra fee, and to be honest the care is about the same. The private hospitals may have nicer furniture for the visitors, and prettier curtains, but you aren't going to enjoy those much in your position. The medical care will be pretty much the same, and you won't get the pain medications any differently than how they are prescribed. The medical equipment they use is the same. Some private hospitals stink, and some public ones are pretty good. If all else fails, discuss the options with your doctor or ask one of his staff what they think about the various hospitals. They are usually the ones in the know, and in a better position to judge. I always take note of where the doctors and nurses go when they get sick. That's the best way to pick a good one.

You are going to receive the same treatment from both a private and public hospital, only difference will be the outside appearance, but surgically everything will be kept sterile no matter where you go (this is standard precautions taken for both patient and facility), post operative you will receive the same kind of treatment/medications.

If you meant about having your own personal nurse/maid, you wont anywhere, for example your cold chicken soup wont be a priority over someone down the hall who's in pain or with unstable stats.
