There's no need for detailed explanation when it can be explained in simple term.

Arrogance is the act of deciding that you know how to handle a situation because you generally think of yourself as a big "smarty pants," for lack of a more formal word. This is generally done by a person who is constantly seeking praise from others in an effort to justify their arrogance. If their actions were wrong, there would always be someone else to blame.

Confidence is the ability to courageously decide, after thoughtful, non-egotist self-examination, that you truly have the wherewithall and knowledge to deal appropriately with a particular situation. This person would generally also have the courage to take criticism if their handling of the situation proved to be appropriate but unpopular. This person would also own up to things if they were wrong.

Confidence doesn't exclude or look down on other people. It is simply knowing you are worth something and are loved. You can really focus on loving other people when you have your insecurities taken care of. Arrogance is when you look down on other people and overinflate your ego. It relies on something you do or think you are rather than your actual worth. It is totally self-focused. And often, but not always, arrogance is a cover up for feeling really bad about yourself. Really they are opposites.

Confidence comes from the discipline of practice and experiences. It is not rude; nor is it snide. It is simply the inner knowlege that you know that you are capable of completing the tasks at hand successfully. Arrogance, on the other hand, is the swagger that comes from INSECURITY and lack of confidence. Arrogance is to confidence as pride is to egoism.

Arrogance implies having so much confidence that you selfishly, rudely steamroller over other people to do what you think should be done. Confidence just implies being sure you are right about what should be done.

confidence is having faith in your own abilities. Arrogance is throwing your abilities in everyone elses face. If you are truly confident you don't need to brag or put others down to build yourself up.
