Venom is technically Carnage's father/mother.

I Don't know where torrin wolf has been reading his comics, but Venom surely DOES want to destroy Carnage. Venom feels responsible for the "innocent lives" taken by Carnage because Carnage was created as a spawn of the symbiote costume that bonded with Eddie Brock. Venom has a tenuous relationship with Spiderman. As soon as Spidey tries to prevent Venom from killing Carnage, that's when Venom will lace into Spidey as well.

Technically, the symbiote that bonded to Eddie Brock (Venom) created the egg that became Carnage. While they do not get along with each other (Carnage is all kill kill kill, and Venom still has a twisted sense of honor) they are not out to destroy each other - they have their hatred of Spidey in common.

But don't forget, Spidey still has other rivals just as powerful.
