That's the sweet part, you get to live any lifestyle you choose in the States. Since you are an engineer you will have access to money and the choices it provides. Just start dreaming and then do it.

Oh, and if you happen to know the Kupaswami family say hi from Minnesota.

you probably can learn a lot from our newspapers. We are not like most of what you see in movies. Different regions of the USA have different styles. In the South people have good manners, eat more fried foods, cost of living is lower. Large cities have the worst crime rates. Engineers make good wages here.

it depends on who you're talking to, I think ... really it comes down to one's attitude. For many here in the US life is just depressing and humdrum -- a mad rat race.

Sounds like with what you're doing over there in India, you've already got the best bits of what life is like over here.

Me, I'd probably rather see India. Probably could find a programming job easier --- they're all going over there it seems, eventually :)
Grass is always greener on the other side.

lesting? Do you mean listening?

People are the same in the US. They like the same things. But they're very different. The only way to learn about it is to spend time with Americans.

Lifestyle is what you make of it.

A lot depends on if your married or single.

How well off you are.

What you like to do.

Single people are more varied than married people.

Single people often go to hangouts, such as bars, restaraunts, clubs.

They drink, listen to music, try and find a "date" or "partner" of the opposite sex to call or go elsehwere with.

They date, they go out to movies, concerts, amusments parks, they go camping, boating, surfing, sailing, skiing

Men are into armchair sports and watch "ball" games religiously on weekends.

Women are into shopping, going to the beauty parlor or spa

Many people go to health or workout clubs to exercise

TV is a major venue and most people watch 2 hours per day

Computers and interenet are big with some people, mostly those between ages 12 and 40

Married people have less time and money they mostly work, shop for food, go home, cook, eat, watch a little TV and go to sleep.

A fair amount of people go to religous services once or twice a week.

Many people shop at big department stores for clothes and electornic toys

Renting videos is also big.

A lot of people with a lot of time watch a lot of TV day and night. "Soap operas" and shows like Oprah, Dr. Phil

A lot of evening mainstream TV is popular. Shows like CSI (Crime Scene Investigation).

For the most part the lifestyle is socializing, working, eating, going out for fun, watching TV, shopping.

People take vacations once a year and go camping or to theme parks like Disney World or to Europe

TV is virtually in every home as it telelphone

Computer and internet is in 80%

Anyone who can afford a roof over their head (98%) has a TV set, a VCR, a DVD, a Telephone, most also have cell phones. ABout 75% have cars.

Less than 1% have to "home" or "TV" or "things" and it's usually by CHOICE

The difference is they don't pay rent or electricity, they steal it or quat (live for free under freeways).
