Sometimes I feel really depressed and cut myself but I am trying to stop so I heard that if you wear a rubber band and snap it on ur wrist when you feel the urge to cut it will relieve it. So I tried it but my wrist just got really red and swollen during class. I was getting something and I saw my wrista nd whispered to myself "...omg its really swollen" and my teacher heard me and asked in front of the whole class "Why what happened to your arm?" and I was like "Oh...nothing" and started to walk away but then she said "Let Me See Your ARM!" and so I held up my arms purposely not revealing the part that was red, but she knew I was mostly only showing my right arm and said "No the other one..." and I just looked at her and walked away.....
i didnt mean to be disrespectful but she sud hav asked me in private...i was freaked out

Hey, get some counselling, kiddo! And, pull your teacher aside and thank him/her for letting your friends know so they can help pull you back out of the "deep water." Your best bet is to go back to that teacher and talk to her about what's going on. She probably saved your life. She is your truest friend, and will be for the rest of your life...Cutting yourself is NOT the answer. Yes, the rubber band will cause swelling. And, yes, it is a sign that teachers are prepared to notice. Find other activities that will take your alone time and occupy your mind. Find a hobby that makes you feel good about yourself. Replace the bad behavior with good, and CHART YOUR PROGRESS. You're not going to break the habit overnight. But you can begin by cleaning out your "emotional house" a little at a time. Find a minister, a counsellor, a psychologist or some other professional who will dig at your answers until you break that dam that's holding your problems back from you. Better yete, find that teacher and have a heart-to-heart after school...

Alright...
I know that it's really hard to stop cutting, and I know that you feel like you're the only one that has a hard time like this... But you're not. Do you're parents know you cut? If they don't, I know how you feel when you said that you were "freaked out". You need to find a better way to let go of the depression. You could go take a walk, a jog, or even a sprint! Just don't cut. If you think it makes things better, it's only going to get worse.
Now, since you don't want your teacher to find out you've been cutting...Why don't you just tell her/him, that you were snapping the rubberband on your wrist. Don't mention anything about cutting.
I know this didn't help much... but I just want you to know that you aren't alone.
:)

I think you should consider going and discussing this with your teacher. Simply tell her that you're trying to stop, and if she is a good one, and you're sincere about quitting the addiction then she should be able to set you up with a program of counselling and a support group.
I myself have been a cutter, in the past. It's amazing how many people feel the same, and experience the same struggles. My advice is simply that, advice. A straight forward approach to your teacher will show your sincerity and also that you are a mature adult looking for help.

Oh Hon, you should chat to somebody approximately this. you may no longer be frightened of him telling your mothers and dads. in spite of if it extremely is problematical which you will chat to them it can be a stable element if he did, it may help smash the ice with them and open their eyes to the reality you're having a confusing time precise now. teenager years might nicely be very confusing generally and a few childrens difficulty much extra then others. you're taking your issues out on your self bodily and you should locate a thank you to redirect all this frustration into something that isn't do you or everyone else extra harm. The knobhead possibly the final pal you should ever have.

I agree with the psychology student dude.
By snapping the elastic band in class "every time you want to cut" is worse than listening to people snap their bubble-gum in their mouths! Have consideration for others and quit thinking about yourself. School isn't about showing off. It's about learning something. If you are going to go off yourself, don't make a mess for others to clean up.

I don't know what to tell you about your teacher finding out. I also have problem with cutting and I try not to but as you said it's not that easy to not cut. If you have a myspace account there is a page on ther for self injury sufferers and there are many people there with the same problem. the name of the page if you want it is self injury help.

Get a different way to challenge yourself! Someone has made you feel unworthy but don't focus on who or how, just focus on healing yourself. Its difficult I know yet possible. If I knew you and your circumstances I could make suggestions for attainable challenges, but the reality is that you have to act on the new challenge, not me. Please do this search for there are people who care about you. By the way, the treacher was probably looking for needle tracks, and couldn't have handled the truth, so you acted correctly.

The teacher should not have done that in front of the whole class. That was very insensitive of her. You need to see the school counselor. The counselor can help you find other ways to deal with your feeling so that you do not need to cut yourself.

As hard as it may be, go and get help! There are too many people who love you and care about you, that would do anything to help you! No one wants to see you hurting yourself, or depressed. You can help yourself by seeing someone. I've had a few good friends commit suicide, believe me hun.. do something while you can! You will hurt more people than you would ever imagine! As for your teacher, just simply and politely tell her that you are not comfortable talking to her about anything and thank her for her concern.Take care and God Bless!

I can understanding saying that it is not that easy. If you were my child I would want you to get some help, but I would want to know why you are cutting yourself. You should always not that your parents, friends and even teacher care and love you and donot want any harm to come of you. Cutting yourself is just as bad and a drug addict, you have to go thru withdraw of cutting yourself. Pray and please talk with your family or someone you can trust and please get some help.
