don't find out. it's so much fun trying to guess what it will be. everyone will tell you what they think it is and why and you'lll here the craziest explanations. as much as i wanted to know, it was kinda fun not knowing. and the thrill of laying on the table when the baby comes out and finding out what it is...i can't describe it.
if you must know, just wait for your regular appointment and remember...it's not 100%. ultrasound techs and doctors screw up when tellin the sex of the baby sometimes

I was more impatient then you. My doctor wouldn't determine the sex for me until I was 25 weeks. I contacted a 3-d ultrasound company in my area and they were able to determine the sex even though I was only 16 weeks pregnant,. She was a licensed sonographer and she did a 20 minute DVD in 4d and 2d and printed a lot of photos. This was a wonderful experience especially for the memories purpose. The place I went to was able to tell the sex of my baby at 16 weeks and she was right! I then went back at 30 weeks when my baby had chubby cheeks and you could start to see her features. Don't change doctors though. Look up 3-d ultrasounds in your area. I confirmed with my doctor it would not cause harm to my baby to have this done. She said even if you had an ultrasound every day through out the pregnancy the chances of anything happening are so minuscule. Good luck and if any Q's please let me know.

I am 26 weeks and i couldnt wait to find out either - i checked out every wives tale i could find but in the end i had to wait until i had my ultrasound (i found out the sex at 18 weeks). It is a boy and i couldnt wipe the smile off my face for a week.
They can be wrong mind you - but i hope not.

it doesnt matter if you know then or now. Nothing will change. Any money to plan to spend on baby items, just save until Dec 13th.
Another doctor would not warrant an ultrasound just for you to find out the sex. There has to be a viable reason.
CONGRATS.

you don't have to switch doctors sweets. relax! five months is about the best time to determine the sex of the baby, and it's the best time to have an ultrasound done to get all the information the doctor needs about the baby's growth and anatomy. I had my first sonogram with my first born at 4 months and was able to know then, but I had one that early because I had a low-lying placenta. my second pregnancy, I had only one sonogram and that was at 5 or 6 months, and the baby would not let me see what it was...much to my surprise, Dec 13th 2004 I was blessed with another baby girl!! don't stress about it, it only makes it hard on the baby, your doctor knows what he's doing!!

Sometimes its better to wait until the scheduled ultrasound appointment, then you can be sure that they won't make any mistakes about the gender. With both of my pregnancies I had to wait until I was 21 weeks with the first, and 24 weeks with this one due Dec 24th. I understand how hard the waiting is! Good luck!

What's the rush? I remember when NO ONE knew what they were having until the baby was born!
Did you know that there is a much higher incidence of postpartum depression in mothers who find out the sex of their baby during pregnancy as opposed to finding out at birth?
In any case, doctors are not supposed to do ultrasounds just to find out the sex. Ultrasound is considered by the FDA to be a medical device and it is to be used only for medical indications. They are not 100% risk free, contrary to popular belief. (Is anything in life?)
If you want to read more about ultrasound go to:
http://www.midwiferyservices.org/infoforparents.htm#ultrasound
I still refer my patients for ultrasound IF there is a good medical indication but only to experienced technicians.

By the time you make a apointment with another doctor and get in to see them it will prob. be around the same time you already have your old apointment. Its only 3 weeks away. I think you should just relax and injoy your pregnancy.
