Speed is limited by budget!!! This a list-any individual item will make your truck faster. Upgrade your air filter or intake assembly first. K&N is a good start. A dual exhaust is good-cat back or full dual. Shorty headers. A 180 degree thermostat. A hypertech chip. A throttle body upgrade from Holley (1 11/16" to a 2"). Get rid of the anemic "swirl port" cylinder heads. Install a Edelbrock "50 state legal" for T.B.I. (194-214 duration) Install a shift kit if your tranny is an automatic. Switch to a 600 cfm Holley carb w/HEI distributor and a 204-214 duration camshaft, shorty headers, and dual exhaust (I did this on my '89 and my truck burns rubber in 3 gears. It's awesome now!)

I would go to Summit Racing and buy a COMPLETE POWER PACKAGE. That is basically a top end kit. Heads, manifold, carb.,cam and lifters. Some kits have more and some have less. That is a start. I would then go to bigger exhaust and headers. It mainly depends on how much more speed and power you want. I was wanting more from my car for the money I had, so it was a choice of building a engine from ground up,or just buying a new engine that was already built up. The engine was cheaper. I bought a RACE ENGINE BRAND NEW!! $2895!! 440HP,478 ft.lbs. of torque.

Put a Turbo or a Supercharger on it. They have new Power Output that they put on Trucks these days. It mounts on the dash. You can change the settings to 1 to 5. It boost's about 200 HP. No S***. Go to like a Performance Shop or something nearby. It's not very expensive. My Brother has one on his Truck. But, It's a Diesel. They work for Gasoline Trucks too. Yes like what Jerry M said it changes the factory settings on what I'm talking about. Try it out.

i'm going to assume it's still stock. well first upgrade your intake and exhaust. then reprogram the cpu if that's an option. you can always get different rear end gears, depending if you're looking for accelation or top speed. not to mention getting blown, ahem i mean supercharged, of course you can always just drop in a 502 and call it a day, but that would cost more than the truck is worth probably; no offense. besides that even though chevy makes a great truck IMO i doubt it's still got the stock engine/tranny/gears. your best bet would be to get a sports car if you're looking for something that goes "fast". good luck though
