You can safely wait at least a few more weeks to about two months to tell them and claim you didn't want to tell everyone yet, as you weren't sure of your health risks with pregnancy. You can tell them you are high risk, and they can't ask you to prove it. If you aren't going to be unable to do the job, then I wouldn't worry about it. Also, talk to other women who work there and see if any of them have been pregnant while working there (in a discreet way...like if they have children ask if they had this job when they were pregnant...) and see how they were treated by the company and their superiors.
Good Luck!

I was in the EXACT same position with my 1st child. I told my boss up front. And it turned out a good thing that I did. My ENTIRE pregnancy was full of VERY sick mornings and some days that I physically could not get out of bed. If it so happens that you have a woman as a superior (I did, thankfully) they tend to be a little more understanding in some cases. Either way, as usual, honesty is the best policy. If you get fired, (which was obviously b/c of that, even tho they'll find ways to get around it) did you really want to work for a company that isnt family friendly??

You need to tell your boss that you're pregnant. This is in case the work you do would cause a miscarriage. It's true that you cannot be fired due to pregnancy. However, this is only valid if you were already working at the company before getting pregnant. I would suggest to tell your boss about your pregnancy after the first week of work. You should just state, "I just found recently that I'm .... weeks pregnant." Don't tell them that you found out prior to being hired.

I would wait until you are at least 2 weeks into your second trimester before you say anything. When after that you choose to tell them is up to you. If you are very sick or start to show early, you may want to say something. If you can pull off the "sneaky pregnancy" (ie, you're not missing work due to morning sickness an you aren't really showing) thing, you could decide to wait longer. But like I said....I definitely would NOT say anything until you are at least 2 weeks safely into your second trimester.

Wait until your probation period is up and during that time do the best job you can. That person who told you that you can't be fired because you are pregnant should get out more often. During the probationary period, they can cite poor work performance or any number of things to let you go. Wait!

Personally I would tell them now. I would go the honest way, and say everything you said about finding out you were pregnant after you got the job. But then again thats just me.

What you have planned to say sounds real good.
You are now a protected species. They can't *legally* do anything to you at work because you are pregnant. So if things happen or are said that don't seem right, start documenting, names, dates, times, and what was said.

If it were me, ..right away..because if they know, they will be more sympathetic to morning sickness, aches, pains, and you occasionally not feeling up to being there!
And I think if they fire you,and you know for a fact that it was because you're prengnant, then i would definilty sue for wrongful termination,or at least get something out of it!

I refused to tell even family I was pregnant until second trimester. So until I HAD to I would not tell my work either.

I would tell them now and let them know the truth that you just found out you are pregnant. It would be better now then later.
