Yes you can get your name legally changed; or you can go with the traditional Hollywood procedure and use a pseudonym.

It takes time to legally change your name and it is best handled by a lawyer. In most states you must run an announcement in a newspaper (with a minimum circulation of so many subscribers) for at least month before you can legally change your name. You also have to notifiy your debtors and creditors of the intended name change. Insurance policies need to be updated immediately to reflect your new name. Your car registration and property deeds need to be put in the new name as well. Finally, you social security card needs to be changed; but you will need the judge to sign the name change paperwork before the Social Security office will begin the process.

I am not sure what needs to be done to register a pseudonym, but somebody in the production office might know. It certainly won't be as complicated as a name change.

Check with your local court system. I believe you simply fill out some paperwork, a judge signs off on it and you're done. Easy and probably just a nominal fee for the filing.

yeah. my mom's friend legally changed her name from "hollus" to "holly" (good choice, eh?), so i'll bet you could do it too. i think you can do it at your county courthouse.
