Yes I think everyone should get a second chance to prove themselves. Also, if they are trying to stay off drugs it means they are honestly trying to make themselves a better person and giving them a shot can help to make them feel good about themselves and stay focuse and positive. If they have enough courage to take a long and hard look at themselves and know that their life needs to change, then help them to be a better person.

I'm not sure about benefits, but if I am not mistaken it is against the law to discriminate against them because it falls under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

they're probably willing to work for less than non-addicts, also if they're on welfare employers get tax breaks for hiring people on welfare.
