I'm ready to pull the trigger on the car listed above. MSRP is about 43k (invoice around 39k) for options I want. Since this is a new car, how much over invoice is a fair price? I'm in San Diego and will have to order the car as the dealer (all dealers in this area really) do not carry a manual transmission in inventory.

I would start negotiating at $500 over invoice. Even though it's a new model, the 325/330 has been out for over a year, and those are similar enough cars to have satiated the market. In addition, there's a good amount of industry buzz about the twin turbo 335, which should lower demand for the 328. The other option might be to find a 330 optioned the way you want - dealers will want to clear them off lots, if any are still around.

Even on an M3 at the end of the model run, I was able to get several thousand below MSRP. I ordered my car as well - BMW gives the dealer car allotments for each model, so while they may be more anxious to sell what they physically have in stock, there isn't a price difference to the dealer on custom ordering the car.

Why do you want a 3? The 5 is much better.
