They will know me better than my (Now Adult) children do (but that is normal -- they are still in the selfish - me first, I am going as FAR away as possible because I AM Finally on my own with MY attitude phase).
NOT better than my Siblings do though ... they know what kind of a person I am and given our ages, they also know what we have all been through in our lives -- the divorces, the nasty ex-es, the raising the Teens (you know, ATTITUDE problems!) and retiring one by one -- including our long records of Military Service (YES, we are ALL Military, and I retired first, one is retiring in about a year, and the rest are still serving).
Friends -- that is a yes and no answer. Those that accept me as I am (and don't look with horror on the fact that I am a FEMALE Military Retiree) -- they would definitely know me better. The rest of the folks that are not as close (acquaintances really) -- they do NOT know me well at all.

Probably not, of course my family thinks they know me, but every once in a while I fool them.

I would say 75% wouldn't know me and 25% would know me
