4" thick?! You really only need something 1 3/4" to 2" thick.

Although you may be able to find mahogany in a single piece it will tend to cup and warp on you, so it is a better idea to take 2 pieces 12" wide (or 3 pieces 8" wide) and glue them together.

Just so you know, the average electric guitar is 14" wide..a 24" wide guitar would be hard to hold. If you are thinking about a "V", consider using smaller, narrower pieces to build up the rough shape, then bandsaw to profile.
