I know this is silly, but I am having this debate with a friend. We have probably all heard someone say "Oh no, I would break your legs." or something like that when offerd a lap to sit on, maybe you have said it yourself. But, is it really possible?
We usually do not see bigger people sitting on saller people's laps - is it actually dangerous?
Is your answer based on opinion, or do you have evidence or experience to support it?

I have yet to see and hear someone -- and a rather big one at that -- to sit on another person's lap and ended up breaking the legs of the person whom he/she is sitting on.

I am no medical practitioner but surrounded by people who are and based on what I know in orthopedics, our bones are actually resilient. It will have to take a very heavy object with heavy force as well to break it.

Maybe the person who's being sat upon by a rather big person would feel like he/she couldn't walk again after that...hehehe..

BUT I very much doubt that the other is really capable of breaking the leg.

I would have to say it would depend on the size of the person being sat on on the person doing the sitting remember the femur is the strongest bone in the body so it would take a great deal of force.

In this scenario yes, an elderly woman with advanced osteoporosis has an obese person drop into her lap. Otherwise, your femur is one of your body's strongest bones.
