Cable is like a series of pipes...you open more taps and the water flow slows. DSL is direct... no other pipes. And cable, you are connected to the other "pipes" so they are also connected to you. Make sure you have a firewall. DSL is fast and not slowed by that flow and more secure.
And guess what? The US Government thinks so to. We use DSL and T100 but NO cable.

The truth is broadband is the fastest speed. I don't think that 30.00 dollars is all that much. I pay 45.95 monthly just for internet. DSL the speed depends on where u live and it does have to go through the phone line which is ancient. Cable uses fiber optic technology to deliver faster speeds to ur home. Cable has actually invested time and money in ur speed. Did u know inside info here it cost the company 1,500.00 per home to make it digital! We are talking top of the line service here. Nothing is faster except a T1 connection. Now remember ur upload and ur download speed is diff. U can only download as fast as the server from that page...will allow u to. So no matter cable or dsl the speed in essence is the same. Cable and dsl very rarely differ much in speed. Its your choice. I have had dsl and it was slow. I also have had cable also for a long time. I used to work for Comcast until my hubby got deployed and then i had to move away so i am stay at home mom now but still i say Cox is better. Also Comcast is in the process of bargaining with Cox and Adelphia for a while. Its been in the works for a while and they are smoothing things out. Eventually Comcast will take over 100%.
