Does it just incinerate limbs upon contact? Would you feel the pain? Go numb? Pass out?

you would probally catch fire and run for help however you would be on fire and no one would want to help you because you were on fire. You would get mad at these people and decide to take a shot of vodka but this vodka is flamable and you would spread this fire to the bar so that it would burn down and catch your toen on fire and everybody you know and love would die a horrible death

Aside from the quackery. You would quickly realize how idiotic it is to touch molten rock. First you would need to get to the lava, which would completely be dependent on the wind. If it's blowing to your front, you won't get very close, if it's blowing to your back, then fair will have it that you'll be successful in touching lava. Next when you finally get to the lava you will need to open up the cooled rock at the surface, this will burn your hand severely and probably ignite your tissue. But if by some chance you had a object to penetrate the top layer and reveal fresh hot lava. Your exposed skin will begin to boil as the radiant temperature of lava is about as hot as your broiler on high. When you make contact the lava will immediately begin to fountain and spray molten rock all over the place. In short, you will be burned severely possibly fatally, and you'll probably lose your hand or any other exposed appendages or tissue.

Incinerate upon contact, no. Lava is typically 900-1200 degrees. Extremely hot, but quick contact would likely result in 3rd degree burns, not incineration. Leave your limb there for long though, and you'll quickly become an amputee.

I watched a program on Discovery where a scientist measured the temps of lava flows. He measured the lava in Hawaii just after it came from the volcano and it measures a little over 2500º. He then measured the lava about 100 yds from the coast before it entered in the ocean and the temp measured over 2200º. These temps can easily melt steel so it doesn't take much imagination to figure what it will do to the human body.

I could describe exactly what happened to a scientist who stepped on thin lava crust and his left leg entered the lava flow. If I did describe it my answer would be deleted.

You will be able to find this information on the Internet.

it is likly to believe that since it is Lava it would cause signifigant pain. this is damn hot and would cause instant 3rd burns.

what i beleive you were meaning to ask, is what would happen if you touched liquid hot magma, which is liguid rock instead of the Lava which is the magma cooling down to begin forming rock again.

if you were to touch magma it would in theory burn you so bad you would not feel the pain as it would counteract the nervous system in the area.... the only problem is, that you would burn yourself so bad from the surrounding air before you could get to the magma to find out for sure, and you would be in ALOT of pain...

You would get a really bad burn on what ever part of your body the hot lava ended up on. You probably would need to go the hospital.

I think that lava is so hot that it is difficult to get near it without protective clothing. If you have seen film of lava flows in Hawaii, anything flammable starts right up as the lave approaches.

About the same thing as if you touched a red hot poker. The temperatures are comparable.

You will be suffocating and be burning well before being able to touch it due to extreme temperature surrounding it.
