I am not sure if it is posible to do it or not. It is really unknown what our time is capable of doing. But if we are able to go back in time, it will be a big mistake. A time parodox will happen, and that is not good at all. Say your Mom gets in a wreck and dies, so you build a time machine so that you can go back in time and save her. Well, if you do go back in time and save her, then you would have never had to have built the time machine to save her. She would have never died, so you would not spend your time building the time machine. But if you never had built the time machine then she would have died. If she died, you would have built the time machine to save her, and if you saved her, you would have never had to build the time machine. Thus, a time parodox. Another scenerio, which is broght up in the short story "A Sound of Thunder", is that if you go back in time to the age of the Dinosaurs and step on a bug, then all of those bugs children will never be born (and a few billion years down the road, that will be a HUGE decrease in that bug population. If there is a big decrease in that population, then a lot of the animals that survive off of those bugs will die. If those larger animals die, then the animals that eat those animals will die. Eventually, there is not going to be much life on Earth. Either that, or the species will evolve to try to adapt to the decrease in the animal population. They might resort to eating plants. If all of the animals eat only plants, most of the forests would be destroyed, if the forests are destroyed, then there will be less oxygen, then all the animals will die and maybe a new species will arise that can survive in a oxygen lacking environment. See all of the things that can happen if you step on a bug. So if a scientist comes up to you and says "Do you want to travel back in time?" Say yes, go over to the machine and either pee on it or hit it with a sledge hammer to destroy it. Then tell them to never build a time machine because you could mess up the Earth.

You will hear people say that when you view the stars in the sky you are looking back in time bla bla bla but you did not go back in time.
They say the faster you go, the slower times goes so in theroy if you went 1 mph slower then the speed of light for 25 years & then again slowed down to earth speed you would go foward in time. The problem with this is you did not go foward in time actually all you did was let time pass you by (cuz it took 25 years of your life & you can not go back). Not to mention the human body can not withstand any where near that speed of travel.
Now for your $64 dollar question... There are some that say if you go the speed of light that time stops. Then if you exceed it, time will go backwards. Well it sounds good on paper but science tells us that nothing can go faster then the speed of light. Here is why it is not possible....
Lets say you have a space car that weighs 100 pounds. The engine gives off enery to put the car in motion. The more energy the faster you go. When you hit the speed of light you would be at the cars max speed (but the gas pedal is only 1/2 to the floor board). Now lets say you give it more (gas) energy to exceed the speed of light. This extra energy will not make you go faster, it will be converted into mass (E=MC2 in reverse) so your 100 pound car starts to gain weight (which slows you down back to the speed of light). You give it even more gas & all that happens is more energy is converted into mass. It is a non stop cycle, the more enery you give, the more weight it gains, which requires even more enery for the same speeds, so you will never go faster then light. You get tired of trying & return to earth and earth speed/time. Things on earth will have aged faster then you, but you did not go back in time. All you did was again let time pass you by & have a much heavier car then you left with.

Astral Planes: I live in the real world not in a dream.
The transfer of molecules was an amazing thing but it is far from time travel. I have read a lot and have not come a repeatable experiment that PROVES that time can travel backwards. There are some rumours about it being possible in Black Holes but it has never been proven that Black Holes exist.

General Relativity has not removed the possibility of traveling backwards in time. Specifically, worm holes (a connection of two points in the space-time fabric) could allow backwards time travel if one end of the worm hole is accelerated to near light speed. Then people in the future could theoretically travel through the wormhole back in time. However, causality paradoxes (like going back and killing you father) cause many physicists to believe that backwards time travel is impossible. A unfied theory in physics is needed to see for sure if worm holes are allowed.

Yes. Check out any number of sites that delve into astral projection. On the spirit plane, there is no such thing as time. That is only on the earthly plane. A very interesting subject and yes, I have done it while conscious. We all astrally project in our dream state but to be able to master the skill of doing it while conscious takes practice. Yes. It is possible. Explore the possibilities.

I've learned not to dismiss anything. Physicists have just recently found a way to transport very small molecules from one place to another (not very far and not very big but even as a possibility, it's amazing). I wouldn't doubt that there's some way to accomplish it but I unfortunately lack the background in physics to come up with a theory on how it might happen.

Yes it is possible.Actually we are doing daily without realizing.Look at the stars in the sky at night. These stars are millions, millions kilometers away & it took million of ' Light Years ' for its 'light ' to reach the Earth. So when you see a Star tonight, you are seeing the stars that were at a particular location many many million, million light years ago(equivalent to the time taken to reach your eyes ) & they are NOT at ' tonight's ' location as we normally used to imagine.Hence you are NOT seeing the ' Present ' but actually seeing the ' Past '.In a sense you are ' travelling back in time ' daily...
Convinced my friend..?.........

well think about this...in some countries its already tomorrow today, really. asian countries like japan, korea and china are about 13 hrs ahead of atlanta so when its noon here on a wednesday its actually 2 a.m on thursday there. so ppl there could fly out of lets say korea on a wednesday and arrive in atlana on a tuesday....traveling back in time. now if they could only get a hold of the lottery numbers for us ! its kind of freaky if you think too much about it...

I wish we could, but, alas, we cannot. The past is past. We can study it and learn from it, but we cannot go back. I do enjoy time-travel movies, however.

I already answered the exact same question from you - in detail - next week.
How many times are we going to have gone over this?
